A dress made out of Loom Bands sold for only £220 after reaching a £170,000 bid on eBay
A dress, created from 20,000 loom bands, was described as "the first of its kind" and took 45 hours to make. It reached bids of £170,000 on eBay has sold at a charity auction for £220.
However, the highest bidder refused to pay up and the owners Kathryn Burnand and Helen Wright were told by eBay they could do nothing about it.
Burnand and Wright who created the unique garment, the winning bidder, from Surrey, subsequently announced they could not afford the dress.
The women were told by eBay there was nothing it could do, and the loom band dress failed to sell again when it was re-listed a week later.
"It costs £25 per hour to have a Macmillan nurse in your home so we've made enough to cover nine hours," said Kathryn Burnand according to the Mirror.
"The dress was carried around all the tables and I heard quite a few people saying their daughter or granddaughter would like it.
"A lot of people were also saying that they were disgusted with the way we had been treated by the eBay bidder and it shouldn't have been allowed to happen.
"It could have sold for more if people had realized what the loom band craze was all about but we're happy with what we've got.
"We had a whirlwind 48 hours when we appeared on The One Show and Newsround, we had a lovely time and we can't complain."
