Pittsburgh Family Gets a 14 lb Bundle of Joy in Baby Boy
Isaac Michael Hall was delivered on Thursday at West Penn Hospital through a c-section as his 29-year old mother Michelle could not deliver the baby normally. Doctors expected he would be a large newborn but they had no idea he would weigh 13 pounds 10 ounces and measure 25 inches long.
"We have never seen a baby of this size. And when I polled all the pediatricians from this hospital, some of whom date back to the early 1980s, there's never been a baby on record who's this size. We knew the baby was going to be very large. As large as this? No. But at the same time, too large to deliver any other way," said Dr. Andrew Sword according to CBS Local. Dr. Sword said that babies reach the size of Isaac when they are three or six months old.
Family and friends of the Halls thought Michelle was going to deliver twins. The couple is surprised as their families have no history of big babies. Michael's 6.5 ft frame is all the couple can attribute to their son's size.
