Samsung might release a round smartwatch alongside Galaxy Note 5, delaying the plans until the second half of the year, according to a latest reports.

The round smartwatch, believed to be called Gear A, has been reportedly postponed to let the hype over the Apple Watch die down.

The Gear A is now expected to launch in the second half of the year - most likely at the IFA consumer electronics show in September - where Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 smartphone, The Telegraph noted.

Samsung previously said it is planning to take its time with the next Gear smartwatch in order to make sure it is a "more perfect product." Rumors had pointed the launch in the first half of 2015.

Chances are that the upcoming smartwatch will run Samsung's home-grown operating system Tizen, instead Android Wear.

In other related news, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with 4K and 'Project Zen' dual-edge variant has been tipped. The device would probably feature 2K (1600x2560) or 4K (2160x3840) Super AMOLED display while being powered by the firm's own Exynos 7422 processor.

SamMobile reported that Exynos 7422 might be the South Korean company's first all-in-one solution, which will include the CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and modem on a single chip.
