Nokia is seeking buyers for its HERE maps division and reportedly Uber has submitted a bid for it for as much as $3 billion.
New York Times, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that the Uber offer is competing with one in the works from a group of German automakers, including BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz which are teaming up with Chinese Internet search engine Baidu Inc. on the report.
Uber did not comment on the matter.
The report noted that a private equity firm has also bid and that Nokia is expected to announce the sale of HERE by the end of May.
Nokia is seeking at least 3 billion euros for the unit, Bloomberg reported.
