She began her 12-mile road march, but soon Army Captain Sarah Cudd collapsed, exhausted and weighed down due to the heavy bag on her back, according to stripes.

She pushed herself up with her rifle, stumbled to her feet and walked another nine steps before collapsing again. Soldiers gathered around her and cheered her on. She then stood up, and pushed herself for 50 more feet till she reached the finish line, when her friends broke out in applause.

Her courageous effort to earn the US Army's expert field medical badge helped her to fight her odds and win personal notice, according to thetimes.

The video of this April 27 effort at Fort Dixon, New Jersey, was put up on Facebook by fellow soldier Lloyd Mason, after which it went viral. It is a video that has been viewed more than 1 million times, and shared more than 22,000 times.

Mason explained that Cudd works at the Army Public Health Command at Fort Knox, Ky. She went on a march as her last attempt to earn the Army's Expert Field Medical Badge, awarded to those who passed a battery of tests for medicos in the Army. Only one quarter or even less than those who attempted the required course could pass it.

The Public Health Command shared the video on May 1, and announced that Cudd earned the badge. There were 45 other soldiers too with her, but 80 percent of those who tried it could not complete it.
