Rihanna's larger-than-life yellow dress she wore for the 2015 Met Gala took the designer over two years to make and it weighed 55 pounds.

Rihanna, 27, said the dress was stitched together by one woman, designer Guo Pei, reported Ace Showbiz. "It's a miracle how it happened actually. I saw this beautiful beast on the Internet. I was looking through, you know, researching Chinese couture ... It's handmade by one Chinese woman," said Rihanna. Adding, "It took two years to make this."

Designer Guo Pei was pleased with her work and how Rihanna looked in it. "She wore it really well, proving that she is Rihanna and the dress was meant for her."

Guo Pei is a go-to designer for Chinese stars like Li Bingbing and Zhang Ziyi and has been profiled by The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times Magazine.

Pei was asked about the growing pizza and omelette memes the dress has inspired, she just laughed and said, "I think it's really cute! I'm very happy. This dress is very important - if people find this dress interesting and funny, I think it's great. Rihanna is wearing this dress for entertainment - not for a fashion show."

According to Vanity Fair, Pei said "the focus and the attention paid to this dress will make it remembered by the world-[what] I want is to make them remember. . . . It is my responsibility to let the world know China's tradition and past, and to give the splendor of China a new expression. I hope that people do know China in this way."
