Four Men Sentenced to Death by Afghan Court in the Kabul Mob Killing Case

Judge Safiullah Mujadidi of the Afghan Court awarded death sentence to four men in the mob killing of a women accused of burning the Quran.

The incident took place on the 19th day of March, where a 27 year old woman Farkhuda, her face covered in blood was tossed off a Kabul bridge, setting her body on fire and throwing it in the river.

This heinous act was recorded and made sound throughout the globe.

The video shows her surrounded by a group of men, beating continuously with feet, rocks and boards. Later, Farkhuda was set ablaze and thrown off into the river.

The case suspected several people of committing the crime.

However, Judge Safiullah Mujadidi awarded death sentence to four men, eight other suspects received sixteen year sentences and eighteen other were found not guilty, based on their involvement in the case.

Judge Safiullah Mujadidi said the sentences in the cases of the nineteen police officers charged in the incident will be announced soon.
