NBA Playoffs 2015: Pressure is on LeBron James in Game 2 of the Cavs – Bulls Series
After losing Game 1 to the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference semifinals, LeBron James is putting pressure on himself to up his game.
In the Game 1 97-92 loss, James recorded 19 points, nine assists and 15 rebounds. Despite putting up decent numbers, James had six turnovers. The King also missed eight of his 11 shots in the second half.
"I did have an off game," James said. "If I have a great game my numbers will be a lot different. For me that's an off game just from the standpoint [that] I'm a very efficient player as far as my shooting and to be 9-of-22, that's unacceptable. What everybody else says, I don't really care what everybody else thinks."
Cavaliers coach David Blatt tried to take the pressure off of James even after James hinted that the poor pick-and-roll defense was partly due to the game plan, which was undoubtedly drawn up by Blatt.
Blatt said on Tuesday, "It's not fair to put everything on one guy. Teams win and lose games and everyone has to give a little bit more. Our margin of error is smaller and we've got to make up for that with 48 minutes of multiple effort and that's on the part of everyone."
The Cavaliers played Game 1 without Kevin Love, who is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, and J.R. Smith, who is serving a two game suspension for hitting Boston Celtics Jae Crowder in round 1 of the playoffs.
James talked about what it was like to play without their starter, Love.
"I've always had to feel out things, but last night it was a little bit too much feel out," James said. "I think I may have to change my mindset a little bit obviously with [Love] being out. It's something we all haven't been accustomed to this year with him being out for an extensive period or another of the Big Three being out for a long period of time since I had my injuries."
The Cavs host Game 2 on May 6 at 7 pm. ET on TNT.
