A new iPhone 6 case promises to conserve power without consuming any itself.

The case is being developed by Nikola Labs which is working with Ohio State University to bring the product to market. Though details of its hardware have not been revealed, it is know that the case can increase battery life by about 30 percent. It works passively by converting radio energy the phone expends into DC power which slowdown rate of battery discharge, giving users longer battery life.

The case was demonstrated at TechCrunch Disrupt when it was placed near a wireless router. The product's developers hope to make it available for other devices including wearable gadgets.

On its website, Nikola Labs lists an 'RF Harvesting Antenna', 'Signal Strength Indicator' and an 'RF-DC Convertor' as features.

"Nikola Technology efficiently converts RF signals like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and LTE into DC power using its proprietary energy harvesting circuit. The result is usable energy that can provide power to mobile devices wirelessly," the device's description reads on the website.

The product is expected to launch on Kickstarter in a month for $ 99, with a shipping time of four months.
