Initial police investigations said that the man is playing basketball with the singer at the Palms Casino Resort when a heated argument occurred between them causing Brown to punch him.
The complainant said that he was hit twice, first by the hitmaker and with another man who was with Brown, CNN said.
"A verbal altercation on the court led to a physical fight and the victim was punched by another male subject who was later identified as 25-year-old recording artist Chris Brown," said the police in an official statement.
After the incident, the man involved in the battery seek help in a nearby hospital and was found to suffer non-life threatening injuries, according to Time.
Police investigators are now currently looking at the case but have not talked to the singer yet.
According to TMZ, the rapper has two options. One is that he will sign a citation admitting to be engaged in 'misdemeanor battery'. This would mean showing up in court and face charges.
The other option is for Brown to consult the DA who would decide whether it is smart to press charges or not.
Meanwhile, Chris Brown's camps denied his involvement in the said allegations.
"Chris is currently in Las Vegas as he is performing at Drai's on May 5th and receiving a Key to the Strip that day as well. He has a suite at the hotel that has a basketball court and invited friends to come play. An unruly individual showed up uninvited and was removed from the premises. Chris was not in an altercation with this person, his publicist Nicole Perna said in an official statement via CNN.
