Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry has been named the 2014-15 NBA Most Valuable Player on Monday, the NBA announced. Curry will be presented with the MVP trophy at Oracle Arena before Tuesday night's game against the Memphis Grizzles.

The point guard edged out on top over Houston Rockets James Harden, who was named the runner-up. Curry received a total of 1,198 points. Harden had 936 and Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James came in third with 552 points

"I honestly have no idea," Curry said in regards to the MVP title after Sunday's Western Conference semifinal playoff game. "It's obviously just ... in the middle of a playoff series, it's hard to kind of separate yourself with other things that may or may not happen. Obviously I know what the situation is. (I'm) just trying to focus on the game, and if I get a call (Monday), I'll definitely be happy, and there will be a lot of people that can be proud of that moment, as well, and we'll enjoy it. But right now, I'm happy we won Game 1."

Curry led the Warriors to 67 regular-season wins, the best record in the NBA. He also broke his own record of most 3-pointers made within one season.

Curry will become the first Warrior to win the MVP award since the team moved to San Francisco for the 1962-63 season. Before the move, Wilt Chamberlain won the MVP award when he was playing for the Philadelphia Warriors in 1960.

Curry averaged 23.8 points per game with 7.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals.
