73-year-old Ex-Marine Saved His Dog By Punching A 300-Pound Bear
One bear learnt the hard way that you cannot mess around with an ex-Marine's dog, according to washingtonpost.
It began when Carl Moore heard his pet Chihuahua Lacy whimpering from his Placer County, California home.
He came out and saw a bear trying to cross a gate on his front porch. He had lost dozens of chickens recently, so he was sure that the bear was responsible.
He decided to protect his dog.
"I ain't run from nothing; I never have in my whole life and I ain't going to start now," Moore told CBS Sacramento. "And you're not going to sacrifice my babies for some damn bear."
Instead of making a call to 911, he just took matters in his own hands.
"And I raised both hands in the air and I cussed at him, 'Rrraaaaaaa! Get out of here you bastard, and he looked at me like 'Go eff yourself," Moore said.
He got that look from the bear, so he decided to sock him.
"He come up like this, and turned, boom, I hit him hard," Moore added.
He said there were witnesses to his "man-to-bear KO punch".
"Carl just smacks it, I couldn't believe it," said John Sargent, a friend and co-worker of Moore's who lives with him in the Placer County home, according to fox13now.
The bear decided to trundle off. Lacy was picked up by Moore. It looked as if it weighed 300 pounds, but it just decided to go away.
Moore's friend pointed out that his sock had done it. "He's an ex-first recon Marine," Sargent said. "He's been in barroom brawls, all kinds of stuff."
Moore agrees that he's ready if the bear returned.
"The man or beast that I run from ain't been born, and his momma's already dead," he said.
