Bush Slams Obama For His Middle-East Policy
Former President George W. Bush lashed out at President Obama during a private dinner meeting with Jewish donors, hosted by Las Vegas billionaire, Sheldon Adelson, on Saturday, according to The New York Times.
It happened in Las Vegas, which was "off the record" with a "no notes" rule. Bush lashed out at Obama. With the note that President Obama had no rule to deal with ISIS, Bush gave some opinions on what he thinks should have been done:
"You call in the military and say, 'Here's my goal. What's your plan to help me achieve that goal?"
What action should have been taken? Bush's answer was simple:
"Well, you kill 'em."
He quoted Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who had mentiond that withdrawing troops from Iraq was a "strategic blunder."
He was skeptical of the Iran nuclear deal, and commented on Iranian President Hassan Rouhani: "He's smooth... and you've got to ask yourself, is there a new policy or did they just change the spokesman?"
He added that the deal with Iran as well as the lifting of sanctions could be harmful to the US. "You think the Middle East is chaotic now? Imagine what it looks like for our grandchildren. That's how Americans should view the deal," he said.
Calling the Islamic State al-Qaeda's "second act", Bush said that murdering innocents is still the favored tactic of the IS. He reminded that terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who confessed to killing Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, was captured on his watch: "Just remember the guy who slit Danny Pearl's throat is in Gitmo, and now they're doing it on TV," according to bloombergview.
Earlier, President Bush did not publicly criticize Obama, as he felt that it would be "bad for the presidency."
