Ian Somerhalder, Nikki Reed Tie the Knot after 9-Months of Dating

"Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder is officially off of the market.

E! News confirmed that the 36-year-old actor and his 26-year-old girlfriend, actress Nikki Reed have tied the knot Sunday at Topanga Canyon in Santa Monica, CA.

Somerhalder wore an all-white suit paired with a blue tie while Reed looked stunning in a white fishtail gown with lace sleeves, PEOPLE magazine reported.

Instead of wedding gifts, E! News reported that the couple asked guests to donate to their animal rescue charity. The couple is very vocal about animal rights and adopted a horse back in August as well as a kitten.

"What's actually, I think, nurtured this long friendship that we've had is that we are passionate about similar things," Reed had said back in February.

Kat Graham, Somerhalder's co-star stated that the two are perfect for one another.

She said, "I haven't met two people that were more of soul mates than those guys. They literally are perfect - from their Humane Society work together to them wanting to make the world a better place. I mean, it's really exciting when you see two people come together that are amazing."

Hours before the sunset wedding, Somerhalder had tweeted, "most beautiful morning ever..."

Somerhalder and Reed were first spotted getting very cozy this past July at a Farmers market in L.A. They have been dating for nine months and engaged for nearly four months.

The pair most recently started a production company.

Somerholder told E! News at the time, "Nikki and I are starting a production company and we're going to be able to tell even more stories that we really want to tell, everything from documentaries to TV shows to movies...all kinds of stuff. Having the success of a television show like ["Vampire Diaries"] really allows you to be able...now I get to start spreading my creative wings as well. It's going to be awesome. Listen, it's about telling stories and it's about creating the content to tell those stories and whose going to distribute that content."

Before the pair got together, Somerhalder dated his "Vampire Diaries" co-star Nina Dobrev and Reed was married to "American Idol" contestant, Paul McDonald.

Neither star has had children before.
