Justin Bieber, Kanye West T-Shirts At Center of Fashion Retail Legal Battle
Official merchandise for artists Justin Bieber and Kanye West takes legal battle against Joyrich for unauthorized selling of fashion apparel that bears the names of the music celebrities
According to New Magazine, executives of the Bravado International Group Merchandising Services mentioned in the lawsuit that images and trademarks of other artists Metallica, Drake and the Rolling Stones also appear in products such as shirts, socks and backpacks have been involved in the trade.
As of this week, Bravado have not yet specified the amount for damages inflicted on their company but seeks an injunction stopping of the manufacture, advertising and distribution of the unofficial products that bear the artists' names or any likeness of the original products, Hub Contact Music Reports.
Although Bravado has not yet spelled out the exact amount for the damages, the company estimated that a triple amount of damages from the plaintiff that may be equivalent to triple the profit enjoyed by the defendant must be paid. The company also demands that Joyrich should pay for attorney fees and costs, Billboard reports.
The news source tried to contact Joyrich through email about the lawsuit as well as the spokesperson for the Universal Music Group where Bieber and the rapper have currently signed up but both companies have not responded yet.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber and rapper are recently eyed to guest in an episode that will wrap of the first season of ABC's comedy series Black-ish, International Business Times said.
