Beyoncé, Jay Z Album Update: Couple expected to drop Joint Album on Tidal
Rumors regarding a joint album by Beyoncé and Jay-Z have circulated for while and now, according to DJ Skee, the album is "nearing completion" and will be exclusively released on Tidal.
DJ Skee, the host of Skee TV, first reported on the existence of a joint album last September. During his most recent Skee TV program, he reported sources stating that the album is almost finished.
In February, producer Detail also hinted to a joint album. He told Billboard, "When you think of Jay and Bey together, you think 'album.' You should already know."
The couple has previously released new music on Tidal. Queen Bey exclusively released a music video for "Die with You" while Jay Z released a music video for "Glory." A joint album release on Tidal could revive the service, which was launched in March. Since then, however, the service's popularity has declined.
According to the Guardian, Tidal is no longer listed on the App Store's top 700 downloads chart.
Jay Z bought the company behind Tidal, Aspiro, for $54 million in March.
"We didn't like the direction music was going and thought maybe we could get in and strike an honest blow and if the very least we did was make people wake up and try to improve the free paid system, and promote fair trade, then it would be a win for us anyway," Jay Z had said.
Detail added that he hoped the album would come out this year.
Beyoncé, Jay Z and Tidal have not commented on the latest reports regarding an album. The couple also has not confirmed whether or not there is an album in the works.
