Oklahoma City Thunder Enes Kanter Underwent Knee Surgery
Oklahoma City Thunder Enes Kanter had successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday, the team announced in a statement. The 22-year-old center will be able to resume offseason basketball duties within four to six weeks.
Kanter joined the Thunder organization on Feb 19. Since then, the has made 26 starts and averaged 18.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 31.1 minutes. He shot 56.6 percent from the floor. The young athlete stepped up to the plate for the Thunder, who lost Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka this season.
Kanter will become a restricted free agent this summer and has been vocal about wanting to stay in Oklahoma. Early speculations believe that Kanter will be offered a deal worth $10-12 million per season.
He said during the team's exit interviews, "I love it here. Oklahoma City was obviously a good fit for me from day one. They opened their arms. I just like playing with all of these guys. They give 100 percent every time. I would definitely like to come back here."
Throughout his four-year career - the majority spent with the Utah Jazz - Kanter averaged 10.2 points with 6.4 rebounds.
Kanter stated that he has plans to participate for the Turkish national team at EuroBasket 2015, which starts in the beginning of September.
