WhatsApp has released an update for its iOS version. The update includes new features such as WhatsApp calling and iOS 8 share extension.

The new calling feature would allow WhatsApp users on iOS to make calls over the internet. The feature is already available for Android users.

However, the feature is not yet available for majority of the users.

Support of iOS 8 share extension would allow users to share photos, videos and links directly from other apps to WhatsApp.

The update further adds a quick camera button in chats, allowing users to capture photos and videos. Users can also choose a recent camera roll photo or video.

Now, users can also edit contact right from the app.

WhatsApp, acquired by Facebook, recently announced that it had crossed 800 million monthly active users. Hopefully, the app will cross 1 billion monthly active users in this year.

The voice calling feature is expected on the Windows Phone version as well.
