Kylie Jenner Responds to Lip Challenge Criticism: Encourages Fans to Be Themselves
Kylie Jenner has responded to a viral lip challenge that has been sweeping the internet which is encouraging teenagers and swelling their lips is raising concerns because of the potential danger involved.
In a dangerous new beauty ritual, teens are sucking on shot glasses to plump their lips, then posting photos of the disastrous results on social media with the hashtag #KylieJennerChallenge.
Teenagers have been putting their wellbeing in jeopardy in recent weeks by embarking on the 'Kylie Jenner challenge' to try and copy her look.
The challenge involves sucking on a glass bottle in order to enlarge the lips.
The 17-year-old addressed the unfortunate social media craze on Twitter Tuesday afternoon. "I'm not here to try & encourage people/young girls to look like me or to think this is the way they should look," she wrote.
"I want to encourage people/young girls like me to be YOURSELF & not be afraid to experiment w your look."
Kylie sparked rumours that she may have gone under the knife when she first showed off her full lips last year.
But she has maintained that she achieves the look by drawing over her lip line.
"You guys have watched me grow up since I was 9. My face is going to get different," Kylie told Cosmopolitan magazine in February. "Now, I know how to do my make up, contour and everything."
