Looking for Mr. Right? Bearded Hipsters Make the Best Lovers

If you are single and looking for the perfect male partner - consider dating someone with a beard. A new survey found that men with beards make the most generous lovers.

Dating site Victoria Milan surveyed 9,127 of its male and female members from 22 countries and the results are interesting.

Victoria Milan founder and chief executive officer Sigurd Vedal said the perfect lover could be the opposite of what your life partner looks like.

"Having an affair with a lover is a way to live out your fantasies, and have things that you don't find at home. While men imagine themselves with a bombshell with long hair, women are fantasising about an elegant, stylish gentleman with a beard. The perfect lover doesn't have to have the qualities you look for in a life partner - they need to be someone you can have a fantastic adult adventure with," Mr Vedal said.

A quarter of women said they preferred facial hair, while less than one-tenth wanted a clean shaven mate.

However, despite whatever physical characteristics that women look for in a lover, overall, personality is more important than appearance with kindness and a sense of humour highlighted as key qualities.

On the flip side, men are looking for women who are "kind, funny and youthful".

A woman with "a mature personality" is considered unpopular.

The majority of men agreed that their perfect woman would have long hair. But opinion was divided on body shape with 39 per cent saying they prefer a curvaceous lover and 40 per cent stating their perfect woman would have a slim build.

The poll quizzed 9127 male and female members of the Victoria Milan site from Australia, Belgium, South Africa, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Slovakia, France, Portugal, New Zealand, Argentina, Spain, Netherlands, Ireland, Greece, Austria, Italy, United Kingdom and Czech Republic.
