Missing 2 Year Old Located, Police Are Still Searching for His Grandmother
Police say 2-year-old Ronnie Tran has been found safe in Renton, but they are still looking for the boy's 65-year-old paternal grandmother.
An Amber Alert was issued after toddler Ronnie Tran and his mother were kidnapped by two women from their home in Des Moines, Washington, on Tuesday.
Police say the mother was stunned with a Taser and bound with plastic ties before being driven with her son to a house in Fife.
Ronnie Tran and his 40-year-old mother were at a house in Des Moines when the mother was stunned with an electrical device, bound with plastic ties and taken, along with the boy, to a house in Fife, according to police.
An Amber Alert was issued for Ronnie D. Tran. Police say he was taken by his maternal grandmother who had threatened to harm him.
The grandmother, 65-year-old Vien Nguyen, was still on the run when Ronnie was recovered around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.
The mother did not call police but instead called a family member to collect her, only dialling 911 later that evening, it was reported by KIRO7.
According to officers, Tran's mother were gagged, stunned with a device and bound at her home and abducted along with Tran to a different location. There, she was tied to a cupboard in the garage. The mother was able to escape the location without the boy, who was taken to another location. Once she escaped she called a family member, and police were not notified until 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
Police were notified around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
A Hyundai Sonata that was used in the alleged abduction was located, and one woman has been taken into custody, police said.
Police said the boy's father is talking with detectives.
Police fear the child may still be endangered because of the manner in which he was kidnapped.
