Indiana Pacers Chris Copeland, Wife Stabbed in NYC, Two Hawks Players Arrested
Chris Copeland of the Indiana Pacers was stabbed in the abdomen early Wednesday morning outside of a New York City nightclub in Chelsea. Copeland's wife, Katrine Saltara suffered slash wounds across her arm, breast and buttocks, officials stated according to the New York Daily News.
The NYPD confirmed the incident, stating that an "NBA player and his wife" were stabbed before 4 a.m. outside of 1Oak Club located on West 17th Street. The NYPD added that an unidentified 53-year-old woman was also stabbed in the stomach. The victims were brought to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. The police recovered a knife from the scene.
The police have arrested the primary suspect, 22-year-old Shezoy Bleary, who was seen leaving with Copeland. The charges against him are currently pending.
The police believe that the incident was linked to a heated argument that started at the club. Police do not know if Copeland was involved in the argument.
"We are aware that Chris Copeland was injured early this morning in New York City. We are still gathering information and will update when we know more. Our thoughts are with Chris and those injured," Pacers president Larry Bird said.

"We are aware of the situation involving Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha this morning," Hawks spokesperson Garin Narain said in a statement. "We are in the process of gathering more information and will have further comment at the appropriate time."
