Report: Rapper DMX Accused of Robbing New Jersey Man
Rapper DMX and his entourage are being accused of robbing a man in Newark, NJ early Sunday morning, the police reported.
Newark police spokesman, Sergeant Ronald Glover stated that the police would be investigating the 21-year-old victim's claim that DMX's group of men stole $3,200 in cash from him at an Exxon Station at around 12:30 a.m.
The man stated that the incident occurred after he noticed the 44-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, and started up a conversation about music. While they were conversing, one of DMX's men allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded the man to give them all of his cash.
After the entourage took the wad of cash, they supposedly fled the scene in four black Cadillac Escalades. The man was able to follow them and got the license plate number for one of the SUVs.
Glover announced that the ongoing investigation is in its "early stages." So far, no one has been arrested and no charges have been filed.
According to DMX's schedule, he was in Newark Saturday night for a concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. The rapper had tweeted his thanks after the concert, but before the alleged incident.
DMX is no stranger to the law and has been arrested numerous times over the years.
