Miami Heat Rumors: Dwyane Wade to Play Again this Season After "Serious" Looking Knee Injury
When Dwyane Wade landed awkwardly during Thursday night's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat and their fans saw their playoff contention disappear. After losing Chris Bosh to health issues, Wade has been carrying the Heat into the playoffs.
In the second quarter of the game, Wade, 33, drove in on the right side of the lane and collapsed. As the play continued, Wade stayed on his back and held onto his knee. He then got up slowly and walked over to the bench, favoring his left leg.
"When you go down like that, I couldn't bust into a split, I'm not that flexible. I knew I was in trouble on my way down. It's unfortunate. I was a little concerned," Wade, who has a history of knee problems, said. "I hit the inside of my knee on the court. That's all I feel right now. I don't know what I'm going to wake up with, but right now I just feel it on the inside of my knee."
Although the injury looked serious, a medical exam determined that it was only a bruise. Wade believes that he will be able to play again this season.
"It could have been worse," Wade said. "Everybody thought it was a groin. The only thing I feel is where my left knee banged on the floor. That's the sorest right now."
Wade will undergo treatment on Friday. There is no word on whether or not he will be able to play in Detroit on Saturday. Wade has been averaging 21.4 points with 4.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 31.5 minutes this season.
The Heats are currently tied in eighth with the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
