Charlie Chaplin's Divorce Papers Discovered: Actor Allegedly Forced Underage Wife to Perform “Revolting” Sex Acts
Divorce papers filed by Charlie Chaplin's second wife Lita Grey alleged the actor seduced and impregnated her when she was underage.
Documents from 1927 reveal that Chaplin knew Lita Grey since she was 8 and later seduced her when she was just 15. Grey's mother threatened to go to the police if Chaplin did not marry her. The couple were married for three years during which Chaplin allegedly asked Grey to perform 'revolting, degrading and offensive' sexual acts including a threesome with another woman, Mirror reports.
The divorce documents were purchased by an antique collection house from an abandoned American bank.
"We got it from a person in America who was told to clear out old documents at the bank. He was told they would be thrown away, and he kept them instead," said John Cabello, owner of Parade Antiques, which is selling the document.
The papers further allege inhumane treatment on Chaplin's part to get his wife to fulfil his sexual desire. Chaplin defended his actions stating married people indulge in such acts and that he has performed them with five women of moving picture before their marriage.
Chaplin and Grey had two sons during their marriage which ended with Grey getting the largest settlement of that time, $ 825,000.
