Guliana Rancic Eating Disorder Rumors: Host acknowledges her Thin Frame
E! News host Guliana Rancic has always been criticized for her weight. However, after her appearance at the 2015 Golden Globes, the subject of her body has been under scrutiny even more. Now, the 40-year-old mother of one has finally addressed her thinning frame.
"Some people were saying, 'The cancer is probably back,'" Rancic said to PEOPLE, which will be available on newsstands this Friday. "And they were accusing me of every eating disorder. I thought to myself, 'God, if someone really thought I had an eating disorder, what a horrible way to approach it.'"
She added, "It's really hurtful. I'm sorry that some people think I'm disgustingly skinny, as they put it, but there's nothing I can do."
Rancic first clarified that she is cancer-free and healthy. The TV personality was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and underwent a double mastectomy. Although Rancic no longer has cancer, she stated that the medication she has been on since 2012 has taken a toll on her frame.
"I started noticing that I was eating a lot, but not gaining weight at all," Rancic said and added that her doctor, Dr. Dev Paul of Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers informed her that the medication can alter her metabolism and lead to weight loss. "I was concerned."
Although she is happy that the medication works for her cancer type, she is upset over how much her body has changed.
"I look in the mirror and it's hard for me," she admitted. "I am really thin. I want to look fit and beautiful and sexy, and I can't."
Despite the criticisms, Rancic will not let the criticisms affect her too much. Her family, close friends and husband Bill all know that she is a healthy woman who eats a balanced diet.
Rancic is also hopeful that after speaking out, the attacks on her body will subside. Rancic's memoir, Going Off Script, will be released on April 7.
