If you are one of the many millions of consumers who forget to buy more toilet paper, diapers, coffee beans or even trash bags - then Amazon Dash is hoping to make your life a bit easier with the click of just a button.

The device is called the Dash Button which is a plastic fob with a single button. The Dash Button represents a more vendor-specific version of the Flic wireless smart button, which can be configured to trigger software-driven actions on a smartphone or other network-connected appliances.

"Keep Dash Button handy in the kitchen, bath, laundry, or anywhere you store your favorite products," the Dash site reads. "When you're running low, simply press Dash Button, and Amazon quickly delivers household favorites so you can skip the last-minute trip to the store."

The buttons have an adhesive stick at the back and can be mounted close to where a customer is likely to realise that a given product is running low - for example on a washing machine for laundry detergent.

Amazon says Dash is a limited-time offer. Eligible Prime members in the United States will receive an email about the service. They have seven days from receipt of the email to order the buttons.

It's part of Amazon's Prime offering in the US that allows customers to order home essentials conveniently.

However, not all essential household products will be available to order on the Dash Button. Amazon teamed up with some consumer brands like Tide, Gillette, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Olay, Bounty, Gatorade and a handful of others.

Each button orders what is says on it, but in setting up the service, the customers can indicate the quantities or sizes they want to get delivered every time they place an order.
