Stephen Hawking, a British Physicist, and the present lecturer at the University of Cambridge, has recently applied to trade mark his name. Stephen Hawking is famous for his pioneering research in the face of pronounced physical disability.

There are many other celebrities who have got their name trade marked, some of whom include Brain Cox, J K Rowling and so on. By getting a trade mark, it prevents others from exploiting the name of the celebrities with inferior products that would undermine and loosen the credibility of his life's work. Stephen Hawking trade mark would cover computer games, powered wheelchairs, greeting cards and heath care. Any act which poses any harm to his credibility or name and fame, would be punishable under the law.

The Spokesperson of the University of Cambridge reported, "It's a personal matter for Stephen Hawking; it is not a university issue, but he has taken measures to protect his name and the success it has brought".

Chris McLeod, president of the Institute of Trademark Attorneys, said: "If Stephen Hawking's request is granted, it could be worth millions of British pounds.
