Microsoft Surface 3 Might Be The Device We've Been Waiting For

Microsoft has added another device to its Surface tablet line - Surface 3 - boasting the same laptop-replacing features as its higher-end Surface Pro 3. The new Surface 3 starts at $499 and will go on sale in May.

Surface 3 is Microsoft's thinnest and lightest tablet till date which also runs "full Windows," including desktop applications. The tablet comes with a full USB 3.0 port, a mini DisplayPort and a microSD card slot. It also rocks an optional dock in case you want to make it your computer at work.

The Surface 3 will be compatible with company's signature Surface Pen, which now come in different colors: silver, black, blue and red.

The announcement strikingly did not mention anything about the Windows RT, the OS designed for tablets that used to count the lower-priced Surface as its main showcase device.

Reportedly, Surface 3 will run Windows 8.1 and will be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10 when the new operating system comes out. Hands-one demo can be taken at nearest Microsoft store starting April 1.
