Slack - a popular chat-based work platform - became victim of a cyber-attack in February, the company announced in a blog post. Through the attack hackers were able to access user profile information in one of their databases.

"We were recently able to confirm that there was unauthorized access to a Slack database storing user profile information. We have since blocked this unauthorized access and made additional changes to our technical infrastructure to prevent future incidents," the company announced in a blog post.

The company also released two factor authentication and strongly suggested users to enable it.

"We are very aware that our service is essential to many teams. Earning your trust through the operation of a secure service will always be our highest priority. We deeply regret this incident and apologize to you, and to everyone who relies on Slack, for the inconvenience," the post read.

The company underscored that no financial or payment information was accessed or compromised in this attack.

Recently, another attack was made on a popular game-streaming service Twitch.tv in which attackers got access to profile information of its users.

Slack - a team communication tool - was founded by Stewart Butterfield in August 2013.
