Facebook To Kick Off Annual f8 Developers' Conference Today: Here's What To Expect

Facebook is kicking off its annual f8 developers' conference today. The two-day event, being attended by around 2,000 people will give a glimpse of what's next for social media giant.

The conference will start with a keynote by CEO Mark Zuckerberg who is expected to justify the recent purchases (Oculus VR and WhatsApp) in connection with the company's goals.

According to reports, Facebook might unveil a mobile-advertising distributor to challenge Twitter Inc.'s MoPub.

In addition, Facebook might also provide more details about its Messenger app, which reportedly will allow third-party apps.

Facebook is also in talks with several news websites and might host their contents natively.

Among other things, the company might announce improvements in the existing features as well.

"We expect the focus of the event to be broadly on improvements to News Feed/video, opening Messenger to third party developers, an evolution in the company's mobile adtech platform, and Oculus," Piper Jaffray research analyst Gene Munster wrote in a note this week.

In past f8 conferences, the social media giant has announced new features like timeline, anonymous login that allows users to log into other apps without sharing information personal information from the social network.
