Emotional Celine Dion Opens Up About Husbands Battle with Cancer [VIDEO]
Grammy award winning singer Celine Dion took a leave of absence from her Las Vegas residency last year in order to care for her manager and husband, René Angélil. The singer opened up in a new interview about the emotional rollercoaster the family has been on during this time.
In a tearful interview with ABC's Good Morning America, the songstress opened up about how it's been as her husband Rene Angélil recovered over the past year. While wiping away tears, Celine talked about how Rene's throat cancer has made it difficult for him to eat.
Angélil, 73, had to be fed by a feeding tube because of his throat cancer, she said in the interview.
She then detailed Angelil's painful battle with throat cancer. "He can't use his mouth," Dion revealed. "He can't eat, so I feed him. He's got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day. I do this myself, and so I feed my husband and feed my kids."
"We are taking life one day at a time," Dion told Roberts. "[But] we are choosing to live."
Celine Dion and Angelil, 73, married in 1994, and share three sons together: Rene-Charles, 14, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 4. Angelil was first diagnosed with cancer in 1999, and underwent a procedure in December 2013 to remove a tumor from his throat.
The singer will resume her residency at Caesars Palace Las Vegas on August 27 with a new act, according to her rep.
