Heart-warming photos of a police officer helping an overweight woman runner to finish the 10K marathon had gone viral on Facebook this week.

According to Washington Post, , photographers Gregory and Jonathan Roberts have captured the moment when Asia Ford, the health runner who used to weigh 470 pounds in the last two years, beamed as she got an assistance from a police officer.

Ford participated in the Sunday's Rodes City Run 10K race in Louisville after months of training. She is also said to be very determined to reach the finish line when suddenly, along the way, she was seen struggling.

As first reported in The Courier-Journal reports, Louisville Metro Police Lt. Aubrey Gregory is said to came up to assist Ford in walking.

"As soon as I walked up to her, she immediately grabbed my hand," Gregory told the Courier-Journal via New York Daily News.

Further, he is said to have asked Ford if she still want to finish the race and the latter agreed saying that it is part of her fitness campaign.

"I said, 'Good, then we're going to do this together,'" Gregory said.

Together with Gregory, Asia Ford, crossed the finish line with her son, Terrance. The three of them appeared in pictures posted on Facebook and on the account of Mayor Greg Fischer who is proud of Asia's determination.

"Did you love these images? Come meet Asia Ford, Lt. Gregory and Photographer Jonathan Roberts 3 pm Monday, Metro Hall as our city honors this intersection of health and compassion," the city mayor wrote as a caption to the pictures.

According to Runners World, Ford is third to the last ones who finally made it to the finish line with a duration of 2:07.17.

"Your heart starts to fill up, you get those goose bumps and tingles all over your body. When I watched her approach, I started to hear people scream and I let her go right there before the end. To see her raise her hands, there aren't words to express the way I felt seeing her be successful," Gregory said in a previous interview with WHAS11

On Monday, Mayor Fischer hold a ceremony awarding Lieutenant Gregory and the two photographers for their compassion to Ford and promoting their town.
