'Light It Up Blue' Will Beam Autism Awareness From Global Centres
The Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt was built at about 2560 BC. But it has a special date on April 2.
It will light up blue on April 2 in honor of World Autism Awareness Day, thanks to the efforts of the Egyptian Autistic Society, according to autismspeaks.
Every year, Autism Speaks honors the special event, along with the international autism community, to mark the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day.
It is interesting to recall that in 20 years, The Great Pyramid of Giza was put up as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu. Originally, it stood at 451 feet and was the tallest man-made structure in the world for 3,800 years. The pyramid is the oldest and strongest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is constructed with 2.3 million blocks that weigh about 5.9 million tonnes.
Michael Bell, president of the Autism Project of Southern Ohio, said April 2 is a world-wide day to educate the community about autism, according to Portsmouth-dailytimes.
"Light it Up Blue is actually a world wide event, because April 2 is Autism Awareness Day," Bell said. "It is a day that you really want to spread the word about autism awareness. Us parents, we do it everyday, but this is for the community to spread autism awareness."
Temple Emanu-El is joining the blue movement. It is the first Reform Jewish congregation in New York City, and since 1845, has been a congregation centre of the Reform branch of Judaism, is situated on the east side of Fifth Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets in midtown Manhattan, New York City.
"The blue light that we will be shining at Temple Emanu-El is in honor of the 70-million people affected with autism around the world. It is truly significant and meaningful. Temple Emanu-El is proud to light up in support," the group wrote on their Facebook page.
New York's impressive Empire State Building will add its voice to Autism Speaks' Light It Up Blue campaign. The Building is the official symbol of Light It Up Blue and beams a light for the entire community.
