Instagram Rolls Out Layout, Allows Users to Combine Multiple Photos in Single Frame
If you you are one of the millions of Instagram users, a new update by the popular social media network will leave you overjoyed. Instagram has launched Layout, a new iOS app that combines multiple pictures into a single frame.
"It's fun, it's simple and it gives you a new way to flex your creativity," the company said in a blog post.
"When you open Layout, we automatically show you previews of custom layouts as you chose photos from your camera roll," Instagram said.
Layout features include the ability to automatically find pictures containing faces, and the option of share collages at leading social network Facebook as well as at Instagram.
There are a handful of third party apps on the market that do this already, but they range in price from $.99 to $1.99. Instagram's Layout does it in the app and for free.
Once you open the application and give it permission to access your photos, and you'll find your entire mobile picture library at your fingertips. Scroll through "all" images, or try "faces" to look through selfies and photos of family and friends; no pets or otherwise non-human entities will appear in this section.
The Layout application released on Monday was tailored for mobile devices powered by Apple software. Layout is the second standalone app from Instagram, following Hyperlapse, which shoots time-lapse videos.
A version of the app for use on Android gadgets should be available in coming months, according to Instagram.
