Mo’Ne Davis Forgives Player for calling her a ‘Slut,’ Asks School to Reinstate him

Teenager Mo'Ne Davis is an inspiration both on and off of the field.

The young pitcher and her coach, Alex Rice, have reportedly emailed Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania, asking them to give baseball player, Joey Casselberry a second chance. Casselberry sent out a nasty and offensive tweet about Davis getting a Disney movie before he was cut from the team.

He had tweeted, "Disney is making a movie about Mo'ne Davis? WHAT A JOKE. That slut got rocked by Nevada."

After the tweet was sent out, Bloomsberg University immediately acted and announced that they have decided to dismiss the junior from the school's team.

In response to this news, Davis showed forgiveness and asked the university to reinstate Casselberry. She said on ESPN's "SportsCenter," "Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone deserves a second chance. I know right now he's really hurt and I know how hard he worked to get to where he is right now. I was pretty hurt, but I know he's hurt even more."

She added, "I know he didn't mean it in that type of way. Sometimes you just got to think about what you're doing before you actually do it."

Before Casselberry's account was deactivated, he had tweeted his apology, which read, "An example that one stupid tweet can ruin someone's life and I couldn't be more sorry about my actions last night. I please ask you to forgive me and truly understand that I am in no way shape or form a sexist and I am a huge fan of Mo'ne. She was quite an inspiration."

According to Buzzfeed News, Bloomsburg University has responded, stating that although they respect and praise Davis' maturity, they will stick with their decision.

"Her request demonstrates the type of person she is, her level of maturity and the empathy that her family and coach teach her," the spokesman said.

Davis, who is from Philadelphia, became a teenage sensation when she pitched a shutout and earned the win for the Taney Youth Baseball Association of Philadelphia in the Little League World Series last summer at the age of 13. She was the first girl to ever accomplish such a feat.

The Disney channel announced last week that the production for "Throw Like Mo" is already underway.
