Apple Rumored To Launch New Apple TV With Siri and App Store This Summer
Apple might be planning to launch a new Apple TV, equipped with its personal digital assistant, Siri, this summer, according to reports.
The report was first published by BuzzFeed's John Paczkowski. It added that the Apple TV set-top box will also have App Store and home automation as centerpieces.
According to the report, Apple intends to show the device off at its annual World Wide Developers Conference in June. The hardware itself could be a "significant overhaul," possibly with Apple's latest A8 system-on-chip and much more storage than the current Apple TV's 8GB, the report added.
The operating system is also expected to get a revamp following which it can receive Siri voice commands and remote control of HomeKit-enabled smart home products.
"If I'm understanding the company's strategy correctly, the new Apple TV isn't just a play for a stake of the streaming TV market, but for the mythical digital living room. Think TV, music, apps and a little bit of home automation as well," Paczkowski in the report.
The report did not mention the price however it did speculate it to be more than the current price of Apple TV ($69).
Apple has declined to comment on "on rumor and speculation."
