Cheating in exams has been fairly commonplace in the state of Bihar in India but the recent release of images go on to show just how blatant and widespread the practise is.

Relatives and friends of tenth grade students could be seen scaling walls to pass on cheat sheets to their loved ones. Many parents were also spotted perched precariously from the windows of classrooms as they provided cheat sheets to the children writing the exam inside.

Police officers and inspection authorities were helpless after they were outnumbered by 'well-wishers' climbing walls of 4 storey buildings- Spiderman style. The incident received widespread coverage in Indian TV channels with a number of images going viral on social media.

Under pressure from various quarters, nearly 1200 students have been expelled for cheating. Over 100 parents were also arrested for using unfair means.

Meanwhile the state's education department and teachers also confiscated hundreds of text books and study guides, which the students had smuggled in for the exam.

Close to 1.4 million students turn up for 10 grade exams across 1,200 exam centers in the state. Cheating in exams has been an endemic problem in Bihar especially in the rural areas where competition is fierce and job opportunities and admissions in colleges are few.

Bihar's education minister P.K Sahi said, "It is not possible to fully stop cheating during the exam. It is the responsibility of the society, not the state government alone, to ensure a cheating-free exam. More than the government parents and guardians of students should come forward for it,"
