Ohio Mother Beheads Baby

An Ohio mother is in custody after the grisly murder of her child left the infant beheaded.

The Daily Mail reports that 20-year-old Deasia Watkins has been arrested in connection with the beheading of her three-month-old infant Janiyah. The murder seems to have been due to an incredibly severe case of post-partum depression. The tragedy took place in the Cinicnatti, OH neighborhood of College Hill.

At the time of the murder, the state had already ordered that Janiyah be removed from her mother's care. It is not clear why the baby was not in the custody of social services at the time of the murder.

Family members said that Watkins had been behaving erratically in addition to her depression. One family member said that Watkins was constantly talking about demons.

The decision to remove Janiyah from Watkins' custody was made after a Jan. 25 incident where the police arrived at Watkins home to find her screaming at the young baby. The police say that after they picked up the baby, Watkins passed out with her eyes open.

The murder was discovered by a group of children who somehow made their way into Watkins' apartment and found her with the lifeless body. In addition to being beheaded, the infant was also stabbed multiple times.

Watkins has since been taken to a medical facility for a mental evaluation.
