Sir Elton John Brands Dolce And Gabbana Clothes as "Ugly as Their Hate" After "Horrifying" Baby Comments
Elton John got so enraged with comments made by fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Italian designers for the fashion line Dolce and Gabbana regarding their stand on gay marriages and children from gay families who are conceived through IVF.
Time said that Sir Elton John talked about his rage on Instagram on Sunday decrying the two designers. In a post he said, "How dare you refer to my beautiful children as "synthetic". And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF - a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana"
The post with the hashtag #BoycottDolceGabbana went viral and got the attention of celebrities like Courtney Love, Ricky Martin and American Horror Story Ryan Murphy among others on Sunday.
Twitter screen shots from the Business Insider showed Courtney Love saying, "Just round up all my Dolce & Gabbana pieces, I want to burn them. I'm just beyond words and emotions. Boycott senseless bigotry! #boycottD&G"
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, a strong supporter of the LGBT community also supported the 67-year old singer's cause. In his post, he said: "Because I choose to spend my money wisely & not support self-hating gays who view my son as "synthetic"! #BoycottDolceGabbana @dolcegabbana"
Glee and American Horror Story moviemaker Ryan Murphy also said, 'These designers' horrifying views are never in fashion. Their clothes are as ugly as their hate."
In last week's interview with Panorama, the two designers said, who are both gay and have lived together for many years, said that gay marriages are not natural as well as gay adoptions or for married gays to have children out of IVF, BBC said.
"We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed," they said during the interview.
And in answer for Sir Elton John's sentiment, Stefano Gabbana announced, "We do believe in freedom and love."
