Apple shareholders want company to buy electric car maker Tesla, according to reports.

At the recent shareholder meeting, the Apple-Tesla acquisition was raised twice.

"Quite frankly, I'd like to see you guys buy Tesla," said one shareholder during a question and answer period at a shareholder meeting. The statement followed a laughter and applause but Apple CEO Tim Cook responded to this rather elusively.

"We don't have a relationship with Tesla," Cook said.

"Was that a good way to avoid the question?" he quipped. "Hey, there are some perks to being CEO."

Another shareholder tried to bring up the question again, saying that while he was in love with his Apple products, he was also in love with his Tesla Model S, to which Cook responded that Apple was very focused on CarPlay, TechTimes reported.

Recently it was reported that Apple was poaching Tesla employees to work on a secret car project.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk at recent interview said a partnership between the two companies might be a good idea. He went on to say that Apple entering the auto industry would be a great idea and that he could certainly see his company using some kind of Android or iOS software, adding that working with either Google or Apple would have to align with Tesla's goals of accelerating the electric car revolution.
