Frozen 2 Update: Disney Confirms Production of Sequel, Yet To Announce The Release Date

Disney has officially announced that Frozen 2 - the sequel of highly successful film Frozen - is in production. The information was shared by the company at the annual shareholders meeting on Thursday in San Francisco.

Frozen 2 is being developed by the first film's directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck with the producer Peter Del Vecho for Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Frozen, according to reports, generated nearly $1.3 billion at the box office. For Disney, the movie has become merchandising juggernaut, breaking sales records on homevideo and at Disney's stores.

"We enjoyed making 'Frozen Fever' so much and being back in that world with those characters," John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios said. "Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we're taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that."

Disney also announced the details of its next Star Wars film Star Wars: Episode VIII and a standalone Star Wars film "Rogue One" which is scheduled to be released on Dec 16, 2016.
