Philadelphia Eagles Expected to Sign with RB DeMarco Murray

Running back free agent DeMarco Murray will most likely be strapping on an Eagles' uniform by September if all goes as planned.

According to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter, Murray will visit Philadelphia today with the intention to sign a contract by the end of the day. He will, however, still consider a final offer from his team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Murray, who is the league's rushing leader and Offensive Player of the Year, has reportedly been negotiating with the Cowboys, the Oakland Raiders, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Eagles.

Many are speculating that the discussions with the Cowboys have turned sour since Murray deleted "Cowboys" from his Twitter bio on Tuesday. A source told Yahoo! Sports that the Cowboys offered Murray around an average of $5 million per season and Murray is reportedly seeking a larger contract.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that Murray had personally reached out to the Eagles. According to team and league sources, Murray believes that he can fit in well with Eagles coach Chip Kelly's spread offense. In Philadelphia, Murray would also reunite with Oklahoma University teammate and friend, quarterback Sam Bradford, who was just traded to the Eagles from the St. Louis Rams.

"Absolutely. I've been trying my hardest," Bradford said. "I've called him. I've texted him. I've done everything. We've been in communication. If we can somehow land him, it would be a great pickup. Not only is he a great player, he's a great person. He's a really close friend of mine, too. I think he can really help this ballclub."

If the Eagles can land Murray, head coach Chip Kelly will have a huge offensive weapon in 2015. Since Murray will still consider a deal from the Cowboys, money will be a huge deciding factor.

Murray finished 2014 with 392 rushing attempts for 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns.
