Top Gear Season 22 Cancelled: Jeremy Clarkson Punches BBC Producer
Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended by the BBC over accusations of striking a producer. According to reports, BBC has now pulled the three remaining three episodes from the series and has refused to discuss when the show will return.
Clarkson ,54, has been accused of punching producer Oisin Tymon ,36, when he was told no dinner was arranged for the presenters following the completion of filming last week. The incident was reported only on Monday when the decision to suspend Clarkson was taken.
A source who was present during the incident told The Sun, "Jeremy had a massive bust-up with one of the male show producers and he ended up smacking him in the face. Everyone was absolutely stunned.
"It was all over a catering issue. Jeremy just saw red and hit the assistant producer, who he blamed for not having organised the food."
Clarkson had been in trouble before over a racism row where he used the n-word during filming. If the complaint against the popular host is upheld, BBC might have no option but to fire him. Many critics, voiced concerns over Clarkson making xenophobic and racist comments in the past and felt the host was being shielded by the BBC because the show was immensely profitable for the company. Top Gear in its 22nd season continues to enjoy great ratings and is sold to more than 214 territories.
In a statement made by BBC, is said, "Following a fracas with a BBC producer, Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended pending an investigation. No-one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday. The BBC will be making no further comment at this time."
Clarkson has so far refused to comment but could be seen making light of the incident during Twitter exchanges with co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May.
