Google Releases New Calendar App For iOS
Google has unveiled a new Google Calendar app for iPhones and iPads. Although, it isn't above and beyond the standard set of smart calendar feature, but it does fill the missing void for users who are heavily dependent on Google and its services.
The new iOS Calendar app follows Google's Material Design (obviously). The interface opens up a simple, blocky list of upcoming events, color-coded based on what calendar it belongs to.
An event like "A trip to New York" shows a relevant Google Maps in the background. "Dinner with Douglas" shows an illustration of plates and cutlery in the background.
A new event can be added to calendar by using the plus icon. The app lets you enter other meta details like participating contacts and a relevant location. While entering the details of a new events, Google offers suggestions with better auto-filling for locations and people, called "assists."
Users of Gmail have got extra functionality: The app can create calendar event automatically from Gmail, making the feature handy for situations like hotel and plane reservations.
The app is available on the App Store and can be downloaded for free.
