Sex 11 Times A Month Is Enough to Keep Your Spouse Happy

If you are newly married---or even not, for that matter---you can retain a good marital state with a simple trick. Keep your spouse in a good mood not with satisfaction, but more sex.

New research shows that those who are newly married, yet unhappy, have sex for just three to four times a month, while those who are happy have sex 11 times a month.

"After their first two years of marriage or relationship, couples must do more to maintain their initial level of intimacy and excitement," M. Gary Neuman, bestselling author, psychotherapist and lead author of the study, was quoted as saying in indianexpress.

Gary Neuman, a licensed psychotherapist and rabbi, apart from being an author of many books on happy couples and marriage, is a frequent guest on "The Oprah Show," where he was referred to as "One of the best psychotherapists in the world, according to microfinancemonitor.  He brought the Jewish ideal and value of "shalom bayit" to his practice. He describes his ideal of "peace at home" as encouraging respect and loving-kindness.

Neuman said that less sex every month is mostly due to common, everyday problems, such as paying bills regularly, sickness or sleeplessness. His findings were all based on an experiment involving 400 women considered "either happy or unhappy". He tried to find out how many times a month they had sex, which could make them happy.

"Emotional betrayal through a virtual affair can be even more damaging to a marriage than a physical affair," said Neuman, author of the book titled "Emotional Infidelity: How to Affair-Proof Your Marriage and 10 Other Secrets to a Great Relationship."

Surprisingly, counseling couples who have had casual flings with strangers is easier than those who have found a best friend online---even if they had not even touched each other.

A virtual affair "is a much harder thing to heal in a relationship because the emotions have left the marriage and gone into the hands of someone else," he said.
