HBO Rumored To Team Up With Apple For HBO Now
TV network HBO is reportedly in talks with Apple to make Apple TV one of the devices to carry its standalone streaming service - HBO Now.
"We know there's great anticipation around our standalone streaming service," an HBO spokesman said in a statement, according to Business Standard. "And when we have details to share, we will do so."
According to reports, HBO's standalone streaming service will launch by the end of next month.
HBO's current streaming channel HBO Go is already available on Apple TV but only for pay-TV subscribers. The new streaming channel would allow customers watch the channel via Apple TV without paying for a cable subscription, reported Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter.
Bloomberg report added that the TV network is also in talks with other potential distributers such as Cox Communications Inc. and Cablevision Systems Corp., which sells high-speed Internet service in some markets.
Apple has declined to comment.
