Celebrities Took To Twitter To Express Their Thoughts On Trump's Presidency - Watch Obama's Reaction
Despite the fact that the heat former presidential candidate Donald John Trump has gotten during his campaign run for the presidency, the business tycoon still won the election. Mr. Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States on Tuesday.
The president-elect will meet current U.S President Barack Obama at the White House later in today to talk about the transition of power. Donald Trump will hold talks in the Oval Office with the president at 11 am ET (4 pm GMT).
The meeting is already anticipated by the whole nation, as it will be considered a historic moment, given the fact that these two men do not get along - to say the least. Back in 2011, Mr. Trump promoted the so-called “birther” theory. This theory falsely claimed that Mr. Obama was an illegitimate president because he was not born in the United States.
It was also at the time that Mr. Obama made fun of the then-businessman at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Many speculations have circled that it was this very public humiliation experienced by Mr. Trump that fueled his deep desire to get revenge and to run for the presidency.
Mr. Trump’s election of the presidency has caused major tension between some of the United States’ major cities. People in different states of the country have also begun their protests.
Protesters from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, says Donald Trump is “Not My President”. People from Richmond, Virginia, Boston, Chicago, and Seattle are also protesting.
Tens of thousands of young people in Boston are marching and chanting “Trump must go”, “My body, my choice”, “Not my president”, and “Queer lives Matter”.
Famous Hollywood celebrities took to their own social media accounts to express their feelings. Some expressed worry, anger, fear while some chose to be optimistic.
Captain America, Chris Evans, himself is not impressed with the newly-elected president. He took to Twitter and said: “This is an embarrassing night for America. We’ve let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We’ve let a bully set our course. I’m devastated,”
Ariel Winter, who plays Alex Dunphy, in the hit ABC show Modern Family, also tweeted: “America, you have failed. What the actual fââk. Devastating. I won’t recognize @realDonaldTrump as our president, ever. #dumptrucktrump.”
Bella Hadid kept it short and simple with her tweet, saying:
Ariana Grande was terrified, and in tears.
Nigella Lawson, on the other hand, blamed racism.
Seth McFarlane cannot envision a Trump presidency.
Rashida Jones had an interesting thought:
Comedian Ben Stiller is still hoping this is all just a weird dream.
Snoop Dogg took to Instagram to let everybody know he’s not thrilled with this at all.
J.K. Rowling wants everyone to stand together and stand up for what is right.
Mark Ruffalo wants everybody to fight back.
Kate Walsh thinks this should be considered a national disaster.
Scott Baio is proud.
Sophia Bush encourages everybody to unite.
Amanda Seyfried is looking at the bright side.
