Facebook Messenger can now be used like WhatsApp

Facebook messenger was previously limited to Facebook account holders only, i.e., a person could use the Facebook Messenger if and only of he had a Facebook account.

However, Facebook has now announced that Facebook Messenger could now be used even without having a Facebook account. A user can just sign up for the Facebook Messenger account and get started. Hence, Facebook Messenger can just be used like WhatsApp.

Users need o only provide their phone number to get started. The app can create an ad hoc friend list base on the phone book contacts.
