A 16-year-old teenage boy from Pennsylvania is accused of murdering a classmate and posing with the victim's body for a "selfie" on SnapChat, according to news reports.

Maxwell Marion Morton is charged with shooting 16-year-old Ryan Mangan in the face which resulted in his death. Mangan's mother found his body in their Jeannette, Pa., home on Wednesday, according to the Tribune-Review.

Morton allegedly sent the photo to one person, another young male. The recipient saved the photo before it disappeared and shared it with his mother, who in turn called the police.

"[Police] received a copy of the photo which depicted the victim sitting in the chair with a gunshot wound to the face," a police affidavit states, according to the Tribune-Review. "It also depicts a black male taking the 'selfie,' with his face facing the camera and the victim behind the actor. The photo had the name 'Maxwell' across the top."

"I've never seen it before," John Peck, who has been a prosecutor for more than 30 years, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, "but it was a key piece of evidence that led investigators to the defendant."

Morton also allegedly sent several texts following the crime, with one reading "Ryan was not the last one."

A GoFundMe page has been set up to cover the costs for Ryan Mangan's funeral. It has received just over $5,500 out of a $10,000 goal.

Morton, a high school junior and a running back on the school's football team, confessed to killing Mangan after police found a 9-millimeter handgun hidden in his home, according to the Tribune-Review.

Morton is currently being held without bail in a juvenile detention center on charges of first-degree murder, homicide and possession of a firearm by a minor.
